Remote Commotion
Remote Commotion exists both as a video-dance interactive performance (1), as well as a stand alone video work (2).
(1) As a video-dance interactive performance, Remote Commotion transcends the boundary between the digital and the live self. This piece was created for and performed at the American Dance Festival, in Durham, North Carolina. The giant face, projected on an 8-foot screen, gazed down upon the dancer, creating the odd impression of a duet.
(2) As a stand alone video work, Remote Commotion is an eerie and startling collage of condensed human expression. The 4-minute video was selected for the Journal of Short Film Volume 6, which was released in DVD form in February 2007.
"Catherine Galasso's film [Remote Commotion] fused passion with intelligence, channeling Patti Smith and Anais Nin... presenting a face displaying all human emotions simultaneously."
